The school is located in Pikine, one of four departments in the region of Dakar, specifically in the Yeumbeul Nord community of Ben Baraque.

Pikine is the most impoverished department in Dakar. The main economic activities are small businesses and agri-food gardens.

 

In 2008, the schooling rate for Ben Baraque was less than 25% per 250,000 inhabitants. There were only two public primary schools which were unable to accommodate all school-aged children in the area.
